FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  McCallum Fine Arts Academy Bassists Make All State Orchestra Summer practice pays off for two orchestra students AUSTIN, Texas - (November 19, 2008) - McCallum Fine Arts Academy Chamber Orchestra members Luke Stence and Zac Collier were selected for the 2009 Texas Musicians Educator's All State Orchestra. Both musicians are juniors and are lead bassists in McCallum's varsity orchestra. Luke and Zac are two of only seven students from AISD chosen to participate in All-State this year. "The audition process for All State Orchestra is extremely competitive in a state the size of Texas. For Luke to achieve top ranking reflects the intense commitment and practice he has displayed all during high school. Zac's playing has matured and he also worked extremely hard; his audition was proof of that as well. We are proud of all the students that auditioned, including violinist Phillip Finkle and violist Caitlin Coughlan. The music is very difficult and most students start working on it months prior to the taping. Preparing for and completing the All State audition is an achievement all by itself" said Mr. Ricky Pringle, Director of Orchestras at McCallum. The All-State concert will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Henry B.
